My primary role on this project was implementing the movement mechanics and the capture mechanic. The hardest part was figuring out which direction the player should be rotating after they have been captured. The system I settled upon assumes an orbit direction, and checks if the change in the x value of a simulated next step for both linear and orbital motion is in the same direction.
- Planets
While I didn't draw the wonderful planets, I am quite happy with how we extended a few sprites to feel like an endless supply of planets. Each planet has a randomly selected sprite, tint, and rotation, and between those three every planet feels new.
